Work Experience Diary
For the duration of this week we have been lucky enough to have Ellis and Igor from Tonbridge School join us for work experience. Here is what they have had to say about their week so far:
‘We have thoroughly enjoyed our time so far at DMP. On the first day we were introduced to the company and were shown round the office by their welcoming and friendly workers. Then we parted as one of us stayed at the office and learnt how to measure and draw an office plan (as a preparation for the next day), whilst the other went to Swanley to do a long but relatively straight forward EPC. The following day we both had an early start in order to visit Woolwich where there were two sets of flats that needed to be surveyed. We went with the company’s leading specialists, Joe Maunder and Sam Jones, who were greatly helpful and friendly. We went arround the flats and checked whether anything has changed from the initial drawings made at the office. This surveillance included taking pictures for later analysis at the office and measuring the dimensions of the flats to check whether they are correctly shown on the drawings.
The next day was thoroughly enjoyable as an annual cricket event was held by the company at Eridge Park. The game was surprisingly competitive although the final score does not suggest it (128-68). We participated in the game and helped to score. Above all however, we (and many others) appreciated the free bar and the delicious BBQ.
For the remainder of the week, we will be learning about the essentials of CAD work and more about the industry in which the company is involved in.
Finally, we would like to thank everyone at the company for making this week enjoyable and a good experience.’
