Project Management of New Cosmetic Surgery
This project saw the formation of a new cosmetic surgery located in the heart of Tunbridge Wells, which has brought together market leading medical experts within one practice. Our client had an excellent track record in developing businesses and came to DMP with a detailed expectation and specification for the scheme.
The client had asked DMP to develop and achieve a practice that would utilise an existing building within the historic parts of the Lower Pantiles area in Tunbridge Wells as well as provide generous and comfortable accommodation for the practice’s clients. Facility users would be coming from across the country for treatments and therefore the practice was required to be inviting and luxurious whilst meeting the stringent requirements of CQC (Care Quality Commission).
Prior to the redevelopment of Market House the property had been used as offices for many years: its layout was typical for a period property of its age and offered generous room sizes and a spacious basement. The sizes of the rooms and accommodation available meant that the design could allow for good movement throughout the building to create privacy for patients.
The DMP Solution
The client had already begun the process of marketing the cosmetic surgery and therefore an opening date had been set at an early stage. DMP were able to develop a scheme and tender the works swiftly in order that the project was underway as quickly as possible in order to achieve the summer opening date.
The client was keen to utilise his expertise and had sourced specialist suppliers with which DMP would discuss specifications and requirements, incorporating these into the detailed program of works.
The client was keen for the project to meet certain design requirements whilst adhering to strict medical practices required of a high quality cosmetic surgery and therefore DMP sourced specialist contractors to design and install feature walling and fittings.
DMP were involved at an early stage and worked alongside the client in designing and writing up specifications for the project. DMP’s skilled CAD team were able to create plans for the property which illustrated general arrangements, plumbing and electrical routes, and the integration of specialist medical equipment.
The project management of the scheme became very detailed and the contractor was supplied with information on every aspect of the development. Site inspections and meetings with contractors and the client were conducted almost daily towards the latter stages of the development to ensure the client’s expectations for opening were achieved.
The end result of this project has utilised an existing building and transformed it into a high quality surgery that is used by patients across the country. The cosmetic surgery is often seen on social media outlets and is known for its high standards.
