Expanding in Tenterden

DMP are pleased to have received on behalf of long standing retail client planning and listed building consent. 

The project involves erection of a new building to provide additional retail storage to Webbs Ironmongery in Tenterden High Street.

The site comprises of the rear yard area serving Webbs Ironmongery Stores within the Tenterden Conservation Area. The main building is Grade II listed. 

DMP’s client had sought a near identical building in the same location in 2006 however this was never implemented. Planning and listed building consent were applied for from Ashford Borough Council by DMP in 2017 for works to an adjoining building.

In terms of the impact of the proposed development on the character and appearance of the application site and its setting. DMP are extremely well versed as to requirement of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). In particular, preserving a historic building or its setting or any features of special architectural or historic interest which it possesses. The application also considers Ashford Borough Council Local Plan. In particular, policy ENV13 (‘Conservation and Enhancement of Heritage Assets’)

DMP look forward to develop drawings and ensure the reserved planning condition are met as required by Kent County Council.  Furthermore, for an archaeological watching brief to be developed to safeguard the history of the site during the ground works.
