DMP have successfully secured planning permission for the conversion and extension of a commercial property in South Road, Haywards Heath,

Following our newsfeed on 22nd April 2021, the planning is to provide five 1 and 2 bedroom flats. Furthermore, an additional 1000 sq.ft commercial accommodation, including change of use from retail to restaurant.

The proposed site is a three-storey commercial property that had remained vacant since late 2020.

At first floor, the former retail accommodation will be converted into two 1 bedroom flats.

A commercial Kitchen, store, plant, male and female toilets in will be constructed to the rear of the property at first floor in association with the restaurant space at ground floor.

At second floor, the former retail ancillary accommodation shall be converted to provide two 1 bedroom flats. 

The plans also include accommodation over the first floor kitchen extension to provide a two bedroom flat.

Granted permission was determined based on the proposed development offering five new dwellings in a sustainable location. The proposal would also result in the employment of contractors for the duration of the build with the increased population likely to spend in the local community.

Importantly, in addition the proposed development would not result in a loss of primary retail services. It would in fact contribute to the vitality and viability of the town centre with the occupation of the ground and part first floor for restaurant use to be occupied by a award winning National Restaurant chain with 190 outlets. 

DMP are pleased to have now awarded the contract to a main contractor with works due to commence in mid February 2022. With first phase comprising of the commercial demise to be handed over to the pre-let National restaurant chain in mid Summer 2022 and handover of the flats in Autumn 2022.
