The Modern House, Isokon Building, Belsize Park
Our Surveyor was working in Belsize Park last week undertaking an inspection to form programmed maintenance works for our client.
Whilst en-route he came across this stunning and wonderful beauty Bauhaus Building. An absolute treat for our Surveyor who have a great interest in the built environment.
Interestingly, the Isokon Building, widely recognised as one of the finest achievements of Modern Movement architecture. Designed by the eminent architect Wells Coates and completed in 1934, the Isokon has been given a Grade I listing by English Heritage, placing it among the most historically important buildings in Britain.
Another key point, the plaque was unveiled on the Grade I listed Isokon Building, originally known as Lawn Road Flats. The trio, all revolutionaries in the modernism art movement, lived and worked in this Belsize Park building in the 1930s
Equally important, Bauhaus was arguably the most influential architecture, art and design school of the 20th century.
