What is Space Planning and how can it help me?
Here at DMP we understand how confusing and difficult planning your next project can be. Therefore we have put together some guidance on some services that could benefit your next project, which will be published on a weekly basis.
So what is space planning and how can it help you?
Space planning starts with an in-depth analysis of how the space is to be used. Space planning may be undertaken as part of the building design process, or as a stand-alone project looking at how best to plan an existing space, or a space that is being developed.
Plans are drawn up, which will define the zones of the space and the activities that will take place in those zones. The space plan will define the circulation patterns that show how people will move through the space. Added details of all the furniture, equipment and hardware placement will also be included in the space plan. A good way to think of a scaled floor plan is like a map.
A space planning exercise makes a huge difference to where you work just like any piece of furniture, appliance or the colours of the walls can make.
When space planning you should take into consideration what are the main focal points of the propose or existing accommodation and that perception of space is based on body size. You should also consider the amount of people using the space and how much space each person may require.
DMP has years of experience space planning and the team can help you plan your space to meet your requests and needs.
