'A room with a view’ overlooking Tunbridge Wells Common
DMP having secured Prior Approval for permitted development for the conversion of a period office building (B1 use) into eight apartments (C3 use) originally submitted in 2015. We were approached by the new owners to revisit the current planning and DMP to Project Manage the works.
The property in question is a prominent detached building situated overlooking Tunbridge Wells common with a short walk to the main train station, historic High Street and The Pantiles to the southern edge of the town.
The property is now a vacant office space; comprising of a number of cellular offices throughout, all arranged on ground, first and second floor level with an approximate area of 5,000 square feet.
Having reviewed the historic scheme with the Client, DMP set about preparing various options for increasing the accommodation densities. A new layout was agreed and now with a Prior Notification application submitted to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, for the ‘change of use’ to provide ten apartments.
Subject to approval it is envisaged works shall commence on site late Summer 2017 with a view the flats being ready for occupation in early 2018.
DMP are currently preparing the Employers Requirements Document to support the Design and Build procurement process to obtain competitive tenders.
